Over the centuries, it’s played host to everyone from the Queen Mother to Winston Churchill (not at the same time, sadly), and today it’s one of the most charming spots on the Kent coast.
Although the castle itself is compact, it’s beautifully preserved—and the real magic lies in what surrounds it.

And because it’s less busy than some of the bigger names nearby, you’ve got space to soak it all in without the crowds.

Walmer is perfectly placed for a full day out. Start with coffee and a stroll around the grounds, then pop down to the seafront promenade or head into nearby Deal for lunch and a bit of boutique browsing. If you’re staying in one of our Deal cottages, it’s all right on your doorstep.
