The Sailmaker’s House

Deal, Kent

Hidden within Deal’s historic Conservation Area, The Sailmaker’s House is a quietly elegant retreat for those who want something more from their holiday. This is not a typical holiday home, but a beautifully crafted space for guests who appreciate true quality and the quiet luxury that comes with it. Just moments from the seafront and the town’s artisan cafés, it sleeps six and feels made for slow, easy days by the sea.

Downstairs, a writer’s snug invites you to curl up on comfy velvet sofas, notebook in hand, while French doors open onto a sun-drenched garden, perfect for morning
coffee or golden-hour drinks. A tucked-away TV room nearby promises gentle evenings in front of a favourite film.

Upstairs, the heart of the home is a beautifully crafted Neptune kitchen, filled with natural light and finished with quiet elegance. Next door, the dining room sets the scene for relaxed meals with family and friends. A cloakroom, boot room, and generous storage make the house ideal for multi-generational gatherings and extended stays.

Designed by an interior designer, every detail has been considered. The house is layered with texture and quality, from hand-picked cushions and curtains to soft furnishings in restful coastal tones. Each bedroom feels cocooning and calm, with thick carpets and beautifully tailored fabrics that echo the sea and sky beyond. There are two double bedrooms, and a twin with two singles. ?

Perfectly placed seconds from Deal’s beach and high street, The Sailmaker’s House captures the essence of coastal living, where mornings begin with sea air and evenings end in the soft glow of home.

Here’s what you’ll find inside

  • A beautifully styled home in Deal’s historic Conservation Area, created for guests who want absolute luxury and are happy to pay a little more for it

  • Two double bedrooms and a twin with two singles
What to bring:
The property is completely self catering, so please bring any food you will want during your stay to cook with for example a special oil or herb (we clear the cupboards before each guest, so we'd prefer you to be prepared rather than disappointed if we do not have something you need).
Please also bring with you any toiletries that you wish to use such as body-wash, shampoo and conditioner as we do not leave these things (we do leave hand soap though, but personal things such as shampoo, body wash, deodorant we do not).
Guests often ask us if we leave towels and bedding – yes we do! We will leave a bath towel for each guest as well as a hand towel for the bathroom/s. We also provide items such as a tea towel, dish cloth/sponge, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and loo roll.

We have stayed here many times before and just love the huge lounge and dinning room. The location is brilliant with a view to die for. Booking process was very efficient and we were kept informed along the way. A quirky residence that ticks lots of boxes

This is a gorgeous little cottage in an idyllic location right on the beach. The view of the sea from the main bedroom window is amazing to wake up to. It makes getting out of bed very difficult. We left the top of the stable door open when we were home letting in the breeze and all the sounds of the sea, holidaymakers on the beach and seagulls in. The whole atmosphere had a lovely Enid Blyton vibe of long adventurous, hot sunny days at the seaside, calling the family in off the beach for their evening meal. It was the most perfect holiday. The cottage also has a log burner so I imagine it would be very cosy in colder seasons too.

The house was at a great location, right near the seafront and High Street. It was fabulously decorated with great attention to detail. The only slight drawback was that you couldn't park outside all day but there was plenty of parking on the surrounding streets.

Had an absolutely amazing stay for friends birthdays, the house was perfect in every. Immaculately clean, great central location for Deal town and the beach. Lots of top tips given at the house of where to visit, restaurants, bars etc and added bonus of a beautiful little garden. Thank you, would definitely return.

We had a ladies two night getaway and had a lovely time. Central House is a little quirky but in a nice way. The view of the sea from the 1st floor living room is fantastic and, surprisingly, the location is very quiet. Lovely big kitchen with all you need for preparing meals Lots of restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance. But, best of all, being able to run across the road to swim whatever the state of the tide. Wonderful!
