The White Cliffs Country’s best-kept secret

St Margaret’s Bay is truly an exceptional place to visit. There are so many hiking trails you won’t want to miss out on, any number of which can be accessed from the top of Bay Hill and the surrounding roads. The most stunning of walks is along the clifftops either towards Kingsdown or Dover. The grasslands are protected by National Trust and so are beautifully maintained.

Tea and cake at Mrs Knott’s tea room

If you’re looking for something very British, then you must take tea at Mrs Knott’s Tea room which is located at South Foreland lighthouse St Margaret’s Bay.  Here you can enjoy a traditional pot of tea and home-made cakes.

A pint at the Coastguard – Britain’s closest pub to France

You cannot beat this pub for location and laid back vibe. The garden is very large and is set back just a few metres from the beach itself. The perfect spot for people watching!

A breezy walk along the White Cliffs

In 2022 an all-weather path was built running from Dover to the South Foreland lighthouse St Margaret’s Bay.  We highly recommend this walk during your stay.
