The orginal smuggling town

Deal is a fishing town best known for its 3 Tudor castles, pretty Georgian streets and its ecclectic mix of people from artists to writes. Unlike neighbouring towns of Ramsgate, Broadstairs, here you’ll find more space to roam along the miles of shingle beach.

COASTE LOVES

Leisurely walks along the golf course

Try the walk from the ruins at Sandown castle which will take you along sweeping coastline and the most dramatic scenes with grassy dunes one side and miles of sea the other.

COASTE LOVES

Bike rides (to the pub on the beach)

We recommend you take the bicycle track that runs from Deal to Kingsdown. It’s not only great for cycling (bikes can be hired at Hut 55), but it’s also a lovely walk perfect for pushing a baby stroller on the miles of flat pathway. Do not miss the Zetland Arms in Kingsdown, which is an incredible pub right on the beach!

COASTE LOVES

Walmer Castle and gardens

The town of Deal boasts none less than two Tudor castles. Our favourite to explore for a day out is Walmer because the perfectly manicured gardens are pretty vast and make for the perfect day out for all ages.
